Playahitty biography

Musical team : E. Asti, S. Carrara

Playahitty (sometimes written Playa Hitty) is a project created by the producer Emanuele Asti who also writes the artist's songs (in collaboration with S. Carrara).

Feline the singer Rio de Janeiro's native came in to live in Switzerland some years ago after becoming 'Miss Ipanema'. During her holidays in Lignano Sabbiadoro she meet in the lobby of her hotel (called Gambrinus, maybe that's why there is a Gambrinus remix for The Summer Is Magic) the Italian producer Emanuele Asti who asked her to give her voice to a eurodance song called The Summer Is Magic.

In an interview, Emanuele Asti explained how the day before going to press he had not yet put a name to the project. He was thinking of a name that recalls the cheerful songs by the beach and so came the name "Playa-Hit", hit the beach. Then he thought about adding a "y" at the end, like a diminutive word, so it would sound less arrogant : a "small hit song". Playahitty in fact can be interpreted as "Playa-hitty" (beach song) or "Play-a-hitty" (listen to a song). Playahitty was born. In a short time the single was realesed worldwide becaming a classic eurobeat track. It was covered in the UK by Exotica feat. Itsy Foster.

Other successes followed : 1-2-3 Train With Me, I Love The Sun, The Man I Never Had.

Actually, vocals on the 2 first singles were done by Jenny Bersola, the real voice of Corona's first hit. Moreover a different biography can be found in French magazines : Playahitty frontlady is called Marion, she was born in Guyana in 1970. She began to sing at the age of 13 in the band where her brother played as a bassist. She practised athletism and gymnastics and was second at the France Championship in 1986. She also became 'miss Guyana' in 1991, which allowed her to begin a career of model for many designers, among them Paco Rabanne. Then she came in Paris where she practised modern-jazz and afro-brasilian dance. She likes Anita Baker, Janet Jackson, Paula Abdul and Eternal. It is very hard to know the truth between these 2 versions...

The the girl who sings and speaks on the single Another Holiday has a true accent from Rio de Janeiro... according to rumors, she could be Bruna Loppez, a Brazilian singer who had been living in Italy since the 90s. According to rumors, Danila Gimmi could have sung I Love The Sun. And finally, The Man I Never Had credited vocals by Alessia Gee.

2002 : a trance cover version of The Summer Is Magic was released, under the name of Playahitty featuring Sasha De Vrie.

2006 : another cover of The Summer Is Magic, this time done by Frisco, was released in the UK.

2008 : a 2008 version of The Summer Is Magic was released.

2012 : a cover of The Summer Is Magic was released by StarClubbers feat. Janet Gray & Mc Calla.
